Steward of Creation Award
The 7th Annual Steward of Creation Award will be presented to the House of Worship that has done the most to “green” their facility. Let us know what your house of worship has done to tread more lightly on the earth. Have you installed solar panels, drought-tolerant landscaping, or energy-saving appliances, lighting, or air-conditioning? Just send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org to submit your nomination. Applicants will have one to two minutes at the luncheon to share what their congregations have been doing.
Earth Day Sermon Award
The 4th Annual Earth Day Sermon Awards will be presented. If you have heard an inspiring talk or sermon about caring for the Earth, please encourage the speaker to submit it or allow you to submit it for them. You may be awarded funds for environmental projects at your house of worship! Submissions will be accepted from faith communities throughout southern California until May 15, 2016, and can be delivered via: snail mail, email, YouTube, DVD, CD, or thumb drive. If submitting electronically, please send the document or link to email@example.com.
• No OCICE board or committee members may enter the contest.
• The sermon may be given anytime during the year – not just on Earth Day.
